Heart Myth or Fact #20: If I were at risk, my doctor would order heart tests


You shouldn’t assume that you don’t have heart disease just because your doctor hasn’t ordered any exams. Cancer screenings tend to be recommended routinely while heart tests, such as CT Scans, are not. However, they should be.

Buildup from plaque in arteries is easily treatable in early stages which is what these cardiac scans are for. Those with family history of heart disease are strongly recommended to get these scans.
