Heart Myth or Fact #18: Even with normal weight & cholesterol, heart disease is still a risk

If you are maintaining a healthy weight and cholesterol level, you are ahead of the game. Unfortunately these are not the only factors that prevent heart disease. There are some risk factors that can be changed, and some that can’t.

The things you can’t change are age, gender, heredity, and have previous heart issues such as a heart attack or stroke.

The risk factors you can change are high blood pressure, diabetes, cigarette smoking, a sedentary lifestyle, stress, and depression.

All of those factors determine if you are at risk for heart disease so control what you can and limit your risk.
