Heart Fact or Myth #9: Women are more likely to die from breast cancer than heart disease

The leading cause of death in women is heart disease. In fact, according to the CDC, it accounts for 25% of deaths of females in the US.

Heart surgeon Kathy Magliato of St. John’s in Santa Monica, CA says that heart risks can be boosted 20% in younger women if they smoke & take birth control pills.  For that reason, women of all ages need to take their heart health seriously.
