Heart Myth or Fact #7: Even fit people need to worry about heart health

Those who eat poorly and don’t exercise have an increased risk for heart trouble. No surprise there. However those who eat healthy and exercise aren’t necessarily out of the clear.

While maintaining a healthy lifestyle is definitely the right way to go, there are some uncontrollable factors. A family history of heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood pressure can put you at the same risk. The older you are can also increase your likelihood for problems. Generally males are at a greater risk for heart issues than women.

Those uncontrollable factors are even more reason for you to exercise and eat healthy. You want to be in control of what you can.
